Iski vintgar

Iski vintgar is a beautiful place in Slovenia, not so far from Ljubljana. You can leave the car on the quite big parking area near lodge house Iski vintgar. If you like just short walk and do some refreshment in the cool water in hot summer days then I suggest you to stay on the left bank of river Iska and continue on the way to the end of the path. There you will see nice beach where is possible to swim. If you like more hiking then you have to cross the footbridge and continue on the path to the confluence of river Iska and Zaka. On the way there you will see Rocky solitary -Votli kamen (Hollow Stone). At the confluence you can also possibility to swim a little near another Rocky solitary named Skalni moz (Rocky man).

Skocjan Caves

Skocjan Caves are problably the most beautiful caves in Slovenia beside Postojna Cave. Postojna Cave is interesting because of train ride and it is also more touristic. Skocjan Caves on the other side has very interesting stalactites and great walk above canyon of river Reka. It takes more than one hour to get through the cave. Also outside part of the cave is very interesting where you come in Velika doline. There is view on waterfall. A little further you can also see beautiful troughs of river Reka that are located between Velika and Mala dolina.

Triglav

Triglav (2864 m) is the highest mountain in Slovenia. It lies in the Triglav National Park and it is the only national park in Slovenia. If you like hiking, nature, mountains then you must visit it if you come in Slovenia. There are many different ways to come to the top of Triglav summit. The easiest way is from Pokljuka or Krma Valley. It takes about 6 hours in one direction so you have to start with your hike very early if you want to go there and back in one single day. But anyway you can sleep in some of many mountain huts around Triglav but be careful in summer when more people want same so it can be everything occupied. And be careful about weather especially in the afternoon when thunderstorms are more often in summer. At the top of Triglav is Aljaz Tower that is symbol of Triglav (see photo).

Mangart

Road to the Mangart Saddle is one of the most interesting Alpine roads in Slovenia. All the way you have nice views of Julian Alps. You must be carefull cause sheep can cross the road. During the drive you can stop beside the road and enjoy in views. When you come to the Mangart Saddle (more than 2000 m above sea level) you can park somewhere near road and continue to walk to Mangart summit. Choose Italian way if you are not so much experienced mountaineer. But anyway it takes about 2 hours to come to summit, so choose good shoes and don't go in bad weather.
