Slovenian Coast

Slovenian Coast is very short, it is just about 45 km long. Biggest cities on the coast are Koper, Izola, Piran and Portoroz. All of these cities have rich history and interesting old town centres except Portoroz that is a little bit more modern with many hotels. One of most scenic bays on Slovenian Coast is Moon's Bay (Mesecev zaliv) which is located in Strunjan Landscape Park. I would suggest also to see Secovlje Salt-pans where you can still see how to make salt on the old fashioned way. Of course there are also other interesting places worth to see. One of them is for sure Garden of Cacti on Cape Seca where you can see a lot of different cacti.

Bled

Bled is one of the most visited places in Slovenia. It looks like some fairy tale scene with an island on the lake, Bled Castle above lake and mountains around. I used to go there on half-day trips just to relax in the afternoon. Especially it is nice in summer to go on some of the beaches around Lake Bled and refresh in the water. In other not so hot parts of the year it is nice to go jogging or hiking around lake or to climb on some small hills near lake like Osojnica or Ojstrica where is nice view of the lake. In the winter at least a part of lake is often frozen.

Velika planina

Velika planina is high mountain plateau near Kamnik. It is possible to go there hiking from foothills or to use cable car. The latter is of course much more easier and faster option. Anyway even if you use this option there is still a lot of possibilities to hike on Velika planina plateau with nice views on Kamnik-Savinja Alps. On the plateau is herdsmen's settlement with very interesting cottages. You can visit also chappel of Marija Snezna or visit natural attraction Vetrnica (cave). There are also many moutain huts where you can sit down and relax and of couse drink or eat something.

Maribor

Maribor is 2nd largest city in Slovenia. It is located quite near border with Austria. Tourists have a lot of possibilities how to spend days in Maribor. There is interesting old city centre with many historic squares, museums, festival Lent, oldest vine in the world, Pohorje hill, parks, spas ... I like to walk around Maribor park, especially around Three ponds. It is nice to sit down at some bar at Lent near river Drava. In the city you can find also a lot of different restaurants to eat something after tired day.
